The Johnson Amendment: Friend or Foe?

http://www.christianitytoday.com/news/2017/december/johnson-amendment-repeal-blocked-final-gop-tax-bill-byrd.html

Should the Johnson amendment be repealed?

Yes, because it blocks freedom of speech, and anything that does that is evil, constitutionally speaking.

I'm surprised it hasn't been struck down by the Supreme Court.

Secondly, it isn't working anyway.  Pastors speak about politics all the time and don't get called on it.  It's more of a threat than reality.

However. . . its repeal will encourage some to be bigger loudmouths about politics in the pulpit in a time we should be focusing on the kingdom rather than the state.

But that's the possibility of free speech--things get said that some of us don't like.  Toooooo bad.
