Lent Begins: A non-poem poem

Prepare your heart for a period of Him-ness

Begin with sorrow for our sins that demanded sacrifice

Walk to the cross in Scripture as He walked in Jerusalem

Wait by the tomb in hope, not despair

Rejoice with the brethren that He is risen

Forty days from cold to warmth, from dark to light.

I don't pretend to be a poet, though. However, I recommend a book by John Piper, 50 Reasons Why Jesus Came to Die. You can get it for a quarter on Amazon, really. It's very good for contemplation during Lent.

Don't give something "bad" up. Embrace something "good."
