Gentle and Lowly quotes for the day

"To help the gospel is to lose the gospel." (p. 182)

"If we are going to try to be justified by our performance, we will have to perform perfectly." (p. 184)

I have often heard the term "fall from grace" used to describe someone who has fallen into (usually sexual) sin. That is the opposite of what it means.

Galatians 5:4: "You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace."

These are not messages to pre-believers, only. They are for all of us who spin our wheels in self-effort, self-promotion, self-justification, self-aggrandizement.
